Job Description

Applications Engineer - Thermal ProductsVeolia WTS - Bellevue, WA; Richmond, VA; Boulder, CO; Minnetonka, MN; Oakville, ON (CAN)

Applications Engineers (AEs) are the first engineers our clients encounter. Alongside Sales and Process Engineering, you are responsible for developing industrial water treatment solutions for clients under complex technical or regulatory requirements. Working with teams across time zones and continents, you own proposal development - from lead qualification, through system design and costing, to contract signature and handover to Engineering.

Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions (VWTS) is a worldwide leader in water recovery, treatment and reuse. We design and supply a range of water systems, from food and beverage applications, to municipal water, to microelectronics ultrapure water and heavy industrial wastewater treatment. In addition to water treatment, Veolia specializes in chemical recovery, separation and purification. Join Veolia in an Ecological Transformation, as we accelerate and expand existing environmental solutions, while simultaneously creating the solutions of tomorrow.

Thermal Products Applications Engineers specialize in our portfolio of evaporation equipment, which includes Falling Film Evaporators, Forced Circulation Crystallizers, and related Zero Liquid Discharge systems. This is specialized equipment engineered for each customer and application, and typical projects may include cooling tower blowdown treatment, semiconductor fab wastewater treatment, or lithium salt concentration/crystallization. Leaning on your practical engineering experience in heat/mass transfer, fluid dynamics and inorganic chemistry, you design and bid these systems, working with Process Engineering to develop process flow diagrams and mass balances, equipment and site layouts, and other engineering necessary to scope and price the system. Large integrated systems often include a host of other technologies, and familiarity with biological treatment, lime softening/clarification, membrane separation, ion exchange or electro-separation will be useful.

Leading the rest of the proposal process, you establish a bid schedule, align resources across engineering teams, work with fabricators and sub vendors, evaluate technical details and manage change throughout the life of the bid. You may work with other engineering disciplines to develop bid documents outside the scope of the AE (e.g. electrical design packages).

Lastly, you create the formal bid documents that sell Veolia's superior process designs and integrated technologies. At times, you assist Sales with discussions and presentations directly to customers.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000
