The Microsoft Defender team is responsible for delivering a constantly evolving set of services and solutions to meet the challenging landscape of our ever-evolving attackers. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer Manager to lead a combined SWE/SRE (DevOps) team which provides leadership, direction, and accountability for cloud design, service architecture, engineering infrastructure, and data platform development. You will help conduct business reviews and operate our production services. Efficient collaboration skills will be required to work closely with other engineering teams to ensure services and systems are highly stable, meet performance Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and meet the expectations of internal and external customers and users. ResponsibilitiesThe team provides leadership, direction and accountability for application architecture, Cloud design, Infrastructure development and end to end implementation for our Sovereign and Government Clouds. As a Senior Software Engineer Manager, you will work across team boundaries to determine and develop architectural approaches and infrastructure solutions, conduct business reviews, operate our production services, and deliver engineering contributions across these services. Collaboration skills will be required to work closely with other engineering teams to ensure services/systems are highly stable and performant and meet the expectations of internal and external customers and users. Core Responsibilities:Build and improve services to be scalable and highly reliable.Lead efforts to deliver and improve engineering systems and practices to deliver services in complex cloud environments.Design and automate service scale features and customer requirements.Design and implement improvements to our security posture and compliance automation.Be part of and provide technical leadership for a Dev-Ops team that handles and remediates customer issues.Collaborate across team boundaries to meet the engineering goals in a unified mannerContribute to significantly improving the security rigor of our system to be best-in-world.Lead the design and implementation of new features as well as add functionality to existing systems.Investigate pre-production and production issues, implement, and deploy fixes.Participate in an on-call rotation (typically 24/7 for one week every 6-8 weeks) within a secure facility.Being enthusiastic, self-motivated, and a great collaboratorBeing passionate about making customers successfulEmbody our culture and valuesYou are highly motivated, self-starter who thrives in a bottoms-up, fast paced, highly technical environment. You will be responsible for working with various disciplines; Engineers, Researchers, Data Scientists; to address customers' needs and create new scenarios and features that provide customer value.
