Career Opportunity

We are currently seeking candidates for a Video Teleconference Technician position, located in our Wallops Island, Virginia station. The Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) Wallops Island, VA requires support for IT engineering, operation, and technical expertise in support of equipment, systems, and computer programs in support of the Navy warfighter. SCSC provides live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric, maritime environment to develop, test, evaluate and conduct fleet operations and training for the warfighter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Video Teleconference (VTC) Technician is responsible for the set-up, operation, and securing of VTC equipment including:

    • Checking VTC equipment for proper operation, setting audio levels, positioning camera functions, and performing secure and non-secure setup.
    • Aiding users in conducting VTC sessions, which may include conference preparation. Supporting operational tests of the VTC system in advance of meetings.
    • Scheduling VTC sessions, training personnel in operation and use of VTC equipment, and other audiovisual equipment associated with VTC services.
    • Monitoring VTC equipment and system performance during the VTC sessions, providing trouble-shooting support as required during the VTC session, and reporting equipment and network problems to appropriate parties for maintenance or repair.
    • Storing and retrieving computer files.

Travel

  • This position includes a low level of travel.

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be familiar with Extron/Creston switch.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration

  • Security+ CE required.
  • Linux certification required.

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance is highly desired; however, candidates eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered. If the selected candidate does not hold an active clearance, he/she will receive a contingent offer. A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations.
  • Must have the availability to work varying shifts and weekends as required (all shifts are on a two-month rotation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently traverse stairs.
  • Sitting for long periods, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Reaching, handling, and using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
  • Ability to lift items weighing to 50 lbs.
