Controller - Finance Department - Full Time - Everett, WA

Compass Health is currently looking for a Controller Position to support Finance Department. The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial statement activity and analysis for Compass Health and affiliates (Organization), which include working with the accounting manager and team to finalize the month end close, financial reporting package for internal and external parties, and assist with ad-hoc analysis to support Executive Leadership financial decisions across all entities. This position will manage the external financial audit and tax preparations and compliance for the entities, assist with final operating and capital budgets, contracts and contract strategy, Federal and State funder compliance, and assist with improving financial operations and goals for the Organization.

What you will be performing

  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and appropriate policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong general ledger accounting skills, and the ability to quickly obtain a thorough understanding of the organization's general ledger structure.
  • Proven leadership, supervisory, administrative, and business management skills and an ability to manage staff.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and systems skills.
  • Ability to organize and maintain complex systems of financial information.
  • Working knowledge of HUD, Medicare, and Medicaid rules/regulations.
  • Working knowledge of compliance issues and HIPAA requirements.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with the ability to also work cooperatively with others as a productive team member.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate effectively and sensitively to a wide range of consumers and professionals.
  • Ability to work calmly, effectively, and prioritize assignments in a fast-paced, high production, and high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, solution-focused demeanor when responding to conflicts or problems.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with an emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • General computer proficiency, including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment criminal background check, which may or may not include an additional search by DSHS.

What you will bring with you

  • BA Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting. Advanced degree preferred.
  • CPA Required.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in finance or Senior accounting leadership role(s).
  • Experience providing business decision support for senior management.
  • Experience with the following systems preferred: Sage Intacct, Electronic Health Records Systems, and Dashboard Software Systems preferred.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License including vehicle and appropriate insurance, if applicable.
