OverviewThe Microsoft Azure Storage team operates at the forefront of building Microsoft's cloud storage solution-an immensely complex and infinitely large infrastructure that serves the entire world. As a Software Engineer II, you will contribute to the growth of the high-quality next-generation Azure storage fleet by building performance benchmarking and hardware/firmware qualification services. In this role, you will work with industry-leading software and hardware storage technologies, as well as tackle complex infrastructure challenges. Your responsibilities will span all phases of the storage lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. ResponsibilitiesCollaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.Contributes to processes for the architecture of a product/solution feature and helps to create proposals for architecture by testing design hypotheses and helping to refine code plans, with technical leadership from others.Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable. Writes and learns to create code that is extensible and maintainable. Considers diagnosability, reliability, and maintainability with few defects, and understands when the code is ready to be shared and delivered.Conducts and creates experimentation to determine the effectiveness of changes for prototyping and testing features, and applies findings back into development.Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore.Builds knowledge, shares new ideas, and shares pinpoints of engineering tool gaps to improve development and maintenance of complex product features and contribute to success of others.Embody our Culture and Values
