This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface.

Blue Origin is committed to building a future where millions of people live and work in space to benefit Earth. We must return to the Moon permanently, and the Blue Moon Lander enables this goal. Blue Moon is a large, flexible, reusable commercial lander for cargo or crew.

Our Lunar Permanence team is developing our lunar landers to demonstrate core capabilities - including the BE-7 landing engine, precision landing sensors, and advanced integrated power and propulsion architecture. The team building this vehicle is rethinking how space systems are designed, with a high-performing architecture, efficient reusability, and rapid design iteration. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Develop test fixtures and equipment to support component and subassembly functional and environmental testing
  • Develop, plan, and execute component and subsystem tests, including development, leak, shock, vibe, thermal, proof, and EMC.
  • Develop test requirements, plans, and procedures to ensure acceptable hardware/ system performance.
  • Design, define, procure, and install system test components and materials; manage vendors and subcontractors during installation.
  • Assist in evaluating hardware and system performance data from qualification and acceptance testing.
  • Assist in troubleshooting qualification and acceptance test anomalies, provide dispositions for hardware non-conformances with supporting rationale, perform system and component risk assessments, and define risk burndown in support of vehicle testing and ultimately flight.
  • Identify opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings
  • Demonstrate high standards in test operations and work cooperatively with a diverse team of Integration Engineers, Responsible Engineers, and BLUE customers to ensure requirements are met
  • Integrate between Mission Crew Interfaces subsystem and overall system-level vehicle to ensure component-level testing complies with overall vehicle test plans.
  • Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work, and coordinate with internal customers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar
  • 2 years relevant test experience or 2 years relevant hands-on systems engineering experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Integration and test experience with human space-rated hardware
  • Functional test experience with avionics, flight decks, cameras, and/or audio systems

The compensation range for on-site WA applicants is $89,820-$131,736
