Job Description

Build the future, spark innovation and align your career with purpose.

McKinstry is innovating the waste and climate harm out of the built environment and creating lasting impact. Together, we're building a thriving planet.

Buildings are a leading contributor to the climate crisis, generating nearly 40% of total global energy-related carbon emissions. We're making a lasting impact on our industry and within our communities by addressing the climate, affordability and equity crises through:

  • renewables and energy services
  • engineering and design
  • construction and facility services

To get where we're going, we need big thinkers, problem solvers and collaborative mindsets. Does that sound like you?

The Opportunity with McKinstry:

We are currently seeking an Energy Management Consultant to join McKinstry as a member of our growing PNW Technical Services team. McKinstry supports clients and their facilities throughout the life of a building; the Technical Service team specifically focuses on the optimization and energy efficiency of existing buildings with a uniquely technical consultative approach. We work directly with owners to help them make effective decisions that improve the efficiency, comfort for occupants and lifespan of their buildings.

Our clients are looking to us to help them navigate multiple, connected issues in the built environment, including energy and efficiency, but also sustainability initiatives like WA Clean Building Performance Standard or Seattle Building Emissions Performance Standard. McKinstry has experts and resources to support all of these issues, and our TS consulting team works best when we leverage the McKinstry team to build holistic, effective solutions.

In this role, you will be a front-line project lead on high impact energy and facility optimization consulting projects, owning delivery and client relationships to deliver outcome oriented solutions. You will leverage your experience in problem solving, systems analysis, data analysis and communication to drive sustainability and efficiency for schools, university campuses, hospitals, data centers and other facilities.

Communication and collaboration are a large part of this role as well, frequently requiring that you partner with other McKinstry teams to deliver effective results while managing client expectations, as well as coordinate multiple stakeholders within a client organization as needed. You will be responsible for making technical recommendations, building actionable reports and presenting them to clients, and assisting the client with recommendation implementation based on the project scope, and backchecking/implementation quality control. As a project leader, you will engage with other junior engineers to support analysis, providing guidance, mentorship and technical leadership. You will be directly responsible for key projects across Western WA, driving technical solutions and optimization in buildings at large institutional clients. This is an opportunity to make a big impact in the community!

If you are passionate about driving sustainability in the built environment and want to make an impact with your technical expertise, this role may be the one for you. We are excited to hear from you in the hopes to bring you on not only as a steward of McKinstry but an invaluable member of our team.
