Job Description:

The PLC Controls Maintenance Technician II - III holds a general responsibility for facility or production equipment throughout the manufacturing facility with regard to all controls, electrical projects, and equipment repair. The technician will support all Maintenance tasks related to preventive maintenance, updating, repairing, optimizing and installing existing and new controls equipment. The technician will also support electrical projects initiated by Maintenance work orders, Maintenance Management or Project Engineering Personnel. Essential responsibilities include:

  1. Provide controls support on programmable logic controllers (PLCs), loop control equipment, variable frequency drives, chart recorders and operator interface devices. These devices may be used in sterilizers, lyophilizers, filling machines, air handlers, chillers, vial cappers, etc. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairs, performance of preventive maintenance, provide programming changes when required.
  2. Communicate controller programming information to others in an informative way. Individual must be able to provide detailed guidance to other maintenance technicians, and to be able to complete tasks with general supervision from the maintenance management and engineering staff.
  3. May be required to provide low voltage (<480V) electrical assistance while providing support for facility renovations, equipment installations, maintenance work orders, etc.
  4. Read and understand construction and machine blue prints, including machine drawings, building construction floor plans, P&ID diagrams, electrical drawings, schematics for pneumatic, gas supply, vacuum and high pressure piping systems.
  5. Understand DC, AC circuits, motor control and measuring techniques.
  6. Computer skills to include Microsoft Office suite proficiency, software installation and upgrades, basic computer repair, and a basic understanding of computer networking. Previous experience with SAP desired.
  7. Responsible for understanding the proper use of engineering and maintenance documentation, which is required under cGMPs. Examples include the Maintenance Work Order System, the Critical Change Request System, SOP documentation, Validation documentation, etc.

Technician III, in addition to above:

  1. Write and make revisions to documentation such as SOP's, CCR's and critical drawings.
  2. Provide technical leadership on critical repairs and new equipment installations as requested by the maintenance management staff.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Education/Certification related to Electrical or PLC Controls preferred.
  • 2+ years related experience in the following area(s): Electrical repair or troubleshooting up to 480v, Hydraulic/Pneumatic Control Repairs, PLC Diagnostics, repair, troubleshooting, Electronic device diagnostics/repair, VFD or Servo Drive Repair/Configuration, SCADA and Network diagnostic. This includes the ability to write complex and detailed reports to document work completed.
  • Along with PLC duties, the position will also provide mechanical maintenance support as directed by maintenance management.
  • Experience in a regulated industry desired, preferable pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • The technician must be able to meet the departmental and personnel goals and ensure job activities are clearly communicated and documented.
  • Reading and understanding construction blueprints required.
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Word and general awareness of Microsoft Office required.
  • Mechanical aptitude required.
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs. unassisted, exposure to allergens, working in confined spaces, pushing, pulling, twisting required
  • The maintenance technician shall be able to achieve and maintain aseptic gown certification for working/troubleshooting in aseptic manufacturing environments.

Technician III, in addition to above:

  • 4+ years related experience in the following area(s): Electrical repair or troubleshooting up to 480v, Hydraulic/Pneumatic Control Repairs, PLC Diagnostics, repair, troubleshooting, Electronic device diagnostics/repair, VFD or Servo Drive Repair/Configuration, SCADA and Network diagnostic. This includes the ability to write complex and detailed reports to document work completed.
  • Experience in a regulated industry, preferable pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Advanced Electrical/PLC/Controls troubleshooting and repair.


Shift:

  • WeekDays
  • Monday - Thursday
  • 10hour shifts - (6am - 4:30pm or 7am - 5:30pm)


Compensation:

  • Technician II - This position pays $26.15 to $35.37 per hour, depending on experience, with opportunity for growth, promotion and annual raises.
  • Technician III - This position pays $29.05 to $39.30 per hour, depending on experience, with opportunity for growth, promotion and annual raises.
