Job Description:

The QC Scientist III/IV performs the analysis on allergenic and client components, raw materials, intermediates, and finished products following written procedures, providing the data required to determine raw material/product disposition. Essential responsibilities include:

  1. Analyze raw materials, in-process, stability and final container products according to established procedures, and as directed by the supervisor.
  2. Record and review data in accordance with GxP to meet regulatory requirements and provide information relevant to product disposition.
  3. Perform studies to assess product or procedural problems under the direction of the supervisor.
  4. Assist in other forms of troubleshooting/investigations as directed.
  5. Prepare reports and assist with document revisions as directed by the Supervisor.
  6. Maintain training compliance on all procedures.
  7. Adhere to all aspects of plant safety programs and in keeping with GMP's or other regulations.
  8. Maintain and operate laboratory equipment in accordance with procedure.
    Demonstrate proficiency in core analytical assays.
  9. Participate in direct internal and/or external client interactions.
  10. Perform special assignments as directed by the supervisor.
  11. Perform studies to assess product or procedural problems.
  12. Prepares reports and assist with document creation/revisions.
  13. Demonstrate QC leadership within the department and outside the department as needed.
  14. Demonstrate technical expertise and assist in training exercises.
  15. Suggest pathways for improvement of processes and procedures, and suggest resolution on issues such as unexpected results.

In addition to above, Scientist IV also demonstrates leadership, teamwork, and technical experience. Additional essential responsibilities include:

  1. Perform investigations and other forms of troubleshooting.
  2. Create procedures, protocols, and reports on new or ongoing product quality control testing for management as directed by the Supervisor or as required by a project team.
  3. Participate heavily in direct internal and/or external client interactions, including communication of results, and incidents; propose and implement possible resolution pathways.
  4. Propose and be capable of defending pathways for improvement of processes and procedures, and suggest resolution on issues such as unexpected results.
  5. Apply industry regulations to ensure QC and GMP compliance.

Qualifications:

Scientist III:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related hard science required + 3 years of lab experience.
  • 3 years of pharmaceutical experience desired.

Must have an ability to utilize scientific literature, and to make effective written and oral reports that are clear, accurate, and logical.

Scientist IV:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related hard science required + 5 years of lab experience.
  • 3 years of pharmaceutical experience required.
  • Must utilize scientific literature, and make effective written and oral reports that are clear, accurate, and logical.

All Levels:

  • Manual dexterity required.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel experience required.
  • Knowledge, practical application and understanding of the sciences are necessary to perform the functions of this position.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, exposure to allergens, repetitive activity, prolonged sitting and standing.

Shift: Day

Compensation:

  • Scientist III - The salary range for this position is $65,479 - $93,500 depending on experience.
  • Scientist IV - The salary range for this position is $68,250 - $107,250 depending on experience.
