The Nurse Executive in Training Program is a 2-3 month long program where you will learn all of the processes and duties of the Director of Nursing (DON) role. You will have hands on training in one of our skilled nursing centers under the direction of an experienced DON. This is a paid training program and you will be placed at one of Prestige Care's Skilled Nursing Centers as the DON once completed!: If you have any question please contact: Katie Kettlety Sr Talent Partner Katie.kettlety@prestigecare.com: Full Wage Range:$42-$52 per hour DOE Seniority with Prestige The Nurse Executive in Training (NET) is responsible for learning the day-to-day responsibilities of a Director of Nursing Services (DNS) and successfully completing the Nurse Executive in Training (NET) program. The NET program is a progressive learning program that provides comprehensive training on the DNS role, starting with observation of daily tasks and progressing to taking the lead in the day-today clinical operations of a skilled nursing center by the end of the program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Collaborates with the DNS to gain comprehensive knowledge of the nursing department. Assists in the management of care and services for each resident, including coordination of admissions, oversight of care planning, facilitation of nursing practices and procedures, and maximization of resident's quality of life and quality of care with the integration of resident rights. 2. Observes, learns, and demonstrates proficiency in the daily tasks of the DNS position under the supervision of assigned DNS. Develops leadership skills required of the DNS position, including time management, prioritization, facilitation of clinical meetings, clinical oversight, and management of clinical team members. 3. Gains knowledge of and demonstrates understanding of Prestige policies, procedures, systems, and clinical practices. 4. Receives training in utilizing reports, clinical documentation, and medical records to ensure highest practicable care is delivered. Observes the integration between clinical services and business operations, including utilization, completion of MDS, management of budgets, and analysis of clinical indicators and business intelligence data. 5. Learns to conduct clinical investigations and manage quality improvement programs. Partners in the investigation and root cause analysis of incidents. Collaborates with the management team on the development and implementation of appropriate interventions. 6. Ensures that the dignity and privacy of residents are upheld and that residents are free from sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, corporal punishment, exploitation, neglect, and involuntary seclusion. Reports allegations of abuse or neglect to the appropriate State authority and the Administrator. Investigates reported abuse and neglect allegations according to policy and procedures. 7. Assists in the management of the Infection Control Program and Antibiotic Stewardship, including acting as an Infection Preventionist (as required) and completing specialized training in infection control. Provides training to staff on infection control practices, investigates and reports incidents of infection, and tracks infection data. 8. Participates in leadership team by actively contributing in decision making, grievance follow-up, building and company-wide initiatives, and leadership team meetings, such as daily stand up, Managing Acute Care Conditions (MACC), Nutrition at Risk (NAR), Utilization Review (UR), Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI), and other meetings as required. 9. Attends and participates in continuing education programs and company and building training, inservices, and staff meetings. Keeps continuing education credit up-to-date. 10. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE EDUCATION The NET must have a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the state of practice. POSITION SUMMARY Minimum of 3 years working in geriatric nursing. Experience in a nurse management position is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with leadership concepts and skills is preferred. Ability to creatively problem-solve in both resident care and employee management situations. Must be a team player, compassionate, well-organized, and flexible.
