Brown and Caldwell (BC) is currently seeking an entry-level Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer (or Process Automation Control System Engineer) to join our growing and passionate team. Detailed Description:

This position offers the opportunity for significant professional growth and the ability to collaborate with local and national teams. In this role, you will support the design, testing, and start-up of industrial process automation control systems for municipal water/wastewater work. Your responsibilities will include developing instrumentation and controls designs (development of control strategies, specifications, wiring/loop diagrams, network diagrams, panel layouts drawings and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)), conducting control system startups for industrial and municipal projects, and collaborating with client development teams with the goal of supporting proposal development.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop or expand upon skills to prepare P&IDs, wiring schematics, loop diagrams, panel layout drawings, power one lines, network and control system architecture designs for industrial automation designs.
  • Develop control strategies that will be configured in the control system.
  • Modify, develop, test, and startup PLC, DCS and HMI automation projects.
  • Produce effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums.
  • Perform submittal reviews from contractors and other system integrator developed automation programming acting as owner's advisor.
  • Work and communicate effectively with other disciplines, task leaders, and project managers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other engineering degree relevant to process automation control system work.
  • Comfortable and effective with clients and contractors as direct interface.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with I&C engineering for industrial projects providing services for government, municipal, and/or industrial water and wastewater projects, or industrial private-sector clients such as pharmaceutical, chemical, food products, petrochemical, or pulp and paper industries is a plus.
  • Ability to become a licensed professional engineer within 3 to 5 years preferred.
  • Experience in industrial process automation systems design, Fieldbus technologies, instrumentation installation, cybersecurity, or network design is a plus.
  • Experience in AutoCad or Revit is a plus.

Salary Range:Theanticipatedstarting payrange for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingupon skills, experience,and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A:$63,000-$86,000

Location B: $69,000-$94,000

Location C: $76,000- $103,000
