Typical Day in the Life

A typical day as a Senior Associate working with exempt organizations in the National Tax Office might include the following:

    Assist in consulting services related to exempt organization issues such as unrelated business income, exemption applications, compensation and benefits, private foundation excise taxes, corporate restructurings.
  • Assist in the delivery of client projects, including review and analysis of client data, preparation of required calculations, review of supporting documents and completion of IRS filings.
  • Manage multiple client projects and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Work on projects with clients in the higher education, nonprofit, private foundation and healthcare industries.
  • Monitor relevant tax guidance for impact on clients and develop appropriate communication of issues for both internal personnel and clients.
  • Work with the IRS to resolve various filing notices and e-file issues.
  • Develop relationships with firm EO staff to become a trusted resource for issues that arise.
  • Interface with clients and approach client interactions with maturity and discretion.
  • Develop and present on technical issues for internal and external seminars and trainings.
  • Develop and manage client relationships.
  • Network, build relationships and attract new clients for the Firm.

Who You Are

  • You have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or J.D. required; Master's or LL.M. in Taxation preferred.
  • You have 3+ years of experience with exempt organizations.
  • You have a valid Certified Public Accountant license preferred, but not required if JD.
  • You enjoy keeping up-to-date on the ever-changing tax industry's regulations and policies.
  • You are proficient in tax research.
  • You take pride in helping others and are passionate about working with nonprofits.
  • You possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • You are a self-starter and are able to work independently.
  • You hold yourself to high ethical standards and maintain client confidentiality.
  • You use effective listening and questioning skills when talking with clients to understand their needs.

Must be authorized to work in the United States now or in the future without visa sponsorship.

Benefits and Compensation

Our compensation philosophy emphasizes competitive and equitable pay. Eide Bailly complies with all local/state regulations regarding displaying salary ranges. Final compensation decisions are dependent upon factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and internal equity.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $110,000
