Brief Description
nLIGHT's Director/Senior Manager IT Operations is responsible for leading the IT Infrastructure and Service Desk Team, delivering outstanding customer service, and building strong partnerships with the organization to support required in a high growth, high tech manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Director of IT Operations will oversee the IT Infrastructure and Service Desk for nLIGHT three domestic manufacturing operations in Washington and Oregon, two international operations in China and Finland, and one contract manufacturing operations in Thailand, leading the strategic and tactical efforts to deliver outstanding customer service for the organization.
This position reports to the VP of IT. Working for the Director of IT Operations will be the IT Service Desk Manager and all members of the IT infrastructure team. This onsite position is located primarily in Camas, WA (Portland, OR metropolitan area) with frequent presence at other local sites and some international travel.
Other key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Strategic
  • Collaborates with technical/business teams to assess requirements,design a technical architecture roadmap that is aligned with the enterprise architecture and strategic business requirements to maximize business value and increase security posture.
  • Analyzes technology industry and market trends and determines their potential impact on the enterprise.
  • Evaluates, prototypes, and selects infrastructure solutions adhering to architecture standards for availability, security, reliability, scalability, recoverability, manageability, etc.
  • Proactively manages existing IT infrastructure to minimize issues associated with technology at End of Life; develop and revise an annual technology refresh plan.
Team Management
  • Effectively leads IT Ops personnel and set department priorities.
  • Improves user awareness of IT services, by coordinating training, documentation, and communication initiatives.
  • Prepares and maintains procedures and guidelines for end users and IT staff.
  • Proactively manages to resolve issues and mitigate risks, updates, and tests disaster recovery plans.
  • Participates in and takes a leadership role in resolving IT incidents, including post-mortem.
  • Facilitates employee development by coaching, motivating, and leads by example to obtain new skill sets, knowledge and troubleshooting techniques.
Procurement
  • Oversees department budget and capital expenditures.
  • Manages the acquisition of new technologies and services including issuing RFPs, objectively evaluating vendor solutions, collaborating with the Legal department to review and execute contracts.
  • Manages the deployment of new technologies and services through effective Project Management.
  • Responsible for overseeing nLIGHT's IT Managed Services Providers (MSP) and other contractors and vendors.
Security
  • Conducts security reviews of designs in collaboration with the information security team.
  • As a member of the cyber-incident response team, oversees the completion of quarterly SOX Access Review
Other
  • Establishes a culture of continuous improvement, driving for more efficient and higher quality IT operations.
  • Collaborates with other departments to carry out the company's goals and objectives.
  • Identifies training needs and ensures proper training is developed andprovided.
  • Ensures safe work environment for all employees; reinforces safety culture.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field is required; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in information technology for high-tech manufacturing company
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in leadership role
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Outstanding analytical skills, Ability to gather information,weigh relevant factors and make decisions based on data,trends, and experience.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate technical concepts to management and other IT partners.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with different levels across the organization;possesses strong executive engagement and relationship building skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, dynamic projects to meet scope, schedule, and budget targets.
  • Proven ability to coordinate effectively with cross-functional, multi-cultural teams located around the world, driven results, and accountability.
  • Willingness to be "hands on", when required; demonstrated ability to coach andtrain teams to bring them to world class.
  • Asks for andoffers help when needed, a committed team player.
  • Evidence of continuing education, such as IT or security-related certifications, is a plus. (ITIL, PMP, CISSP)
  • Experience with highly regulated industry (i.e., NIST 800-171, SOX)
nLIGHT is proud to offer comprehensive COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary level and title based on experience, education, and qualifications:
  • Salary Range: $130,000 to $180,000
