We have an exciting opportunity for a Northwest Senior Solids/Energy Technical Leader to deliver exceptional technical knowledge on major solids and energy projects and serve our well-established wastewater/biosolids clients across the US and Canada with a primary focus in the Pacific Northwest.

The Northwest Senior Solids/Energy Technical Leader will be responsible for driving technical excellence in the Solids/Energy practice in line with the Northwest strategic goals and defining industry trends in the area. Using that knowledge, the Northwest Senior Solids/Energy Technical Leader will work with the Area Practice Leader (APL) to create technical differentiation from our competitors while mentoring more junior Solids/Energy practitioners in the region.

Roles and Responsibilities:

In this position, you will help win and deliver Solids/Energy projects in the US and Canada. You will utilize your consulting and technical expertise to execute work on projects and to help ensure successful client relationships. You will also work closely with and be mentored by strong technical experts and business development experts along with other leaders in the Northwest Region and will in turn be providing technical mentorship for more junior Solids/Energy practitioners.

Project Delivery

  • Function as senior technical advisor/subject matter expert on Solids/Energy Projects in the US and Canada.
  • Ensure quality delivery of relevant technical project elements on strategic regional and national projects.
  • Coordinate with Practice and Specialty Leaders to ensure application of standards during project Support NSLs in directing appropriate resources to developing standards.
  • Support Practice and Specialty Leaders by identifying needs for standards including tools, content, and practice best practices based on client/project demand.
  • Oversee implementation of technical standards on projects.
  • Manage and execute planning and design work for wastewater utilities, including plant operations, comprehensive planning, and infrastructure design projects.
  • Successfully manage and deliver projects on time and on budget. Develop scope, schedule, and budget for new projects.
  • Lead project teams in planning and/or designing a major engineering project and coordinate special planning, economic, and engineering studies.
  • Develop design documents and specifications through collaboration with outside vendors and team members.
  • Prepare and make presentations to clients.
  • Participate in improving company resources and tools to improve design production and efficiency.
  • Direct the work of drafters and designers, coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Supervise, delegate, and oversee the work of technical staff and engineers.
  • Participate in BC's QA/QC, risk management, and PMO processes.

Client Development

  • Equip Area Manager, Practice Leaders, Local Leaders, and Business Unit Leaders with winning technical strategies.
  • Drive implementation of the technical strategy including funnel development, capture of key pursuits, project staffing, and talent development.
  • Participate in go/no-go decisions on local projects associated with the technical practice area.
  • Contribute to the marketing team in developing proposals and presentations including project understanding and approaches for Solids/Energy pursuits.

BC Brand and Industry Leadership

  • Inform development of Business Unit technical focus working with the Area Manager, and Local Leaders.
  • Be a visible technical leader within the industry to represent BC's Solids/Energy brand within your market.
  • Champion and attend strategic regional national conferences in alignment with technical and regional strategy by leveraging national and area technical staff to maximize client exposure to BC technical leaders, staff, and solutions.
  • Mentor and identify opportunities for Business Unit technical staff to grow, experience, and "advance" in the practice.
  • Collaborate with National Practice and Innovation Leaders to support connection of technical differentiators, innovative solutions, and R&D for clients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS. degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in municipal engineering and consulting.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning, design, and construction of biosolids projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of biosolids regulations and current issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and prepare written reports and documents.
  • Strong project or task management skills.
  • Successful marketing, proposal writing, proposal management, and public presentations experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Previous supervisory or mentoring experience is a plus.

Salary Range: The anticipate starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be depending on skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location B: $140,000 - $191,000
