HDR is looking for an Integrated Water Resources Engineer to join HDR's Water Resources team. Candidates for the position should have leadership and technical experience on integrated planning related to coastal resiliency, dam safety, fish passage, and/or flood management infrastructure projects. Our clients include local, state, and federal agencies.

Our team is growing and has a range of challenging and innovating projects. We work within multi-disciplinary teams on projects related to flood management, fish passage, provide hydrologic and hydraulic development and analysis; coastal resiliency; climate change modeling; reservoir simulation, optimization and re-operation.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Water Resources Engineer, we'll count on you to:

* Provide project engineering and task management, conduct difficult to complex hydraulic and hydrologic modeling conduct stormwater collection systems modeling and design collect, assimilate and present data in reports, memos and public forums lead production of design calculations and technical reports and lead preparation of engineering plans and specifications for design of detention facilities, storm drains, flood control facilities and other hydraulic structures

* Work independently in addition to planning, organizing and assisting groups of medium to large teams of professionals and technicians dependent on project/task

* Conduct water resources planning, plan formulation and concept development, and develop planning documentation

* Assist in water resources permitting efforts

* Mentor junior staff; manage medium-sized projects within large-scale programs; and effectively interact with clients and peers. Candidates should be able to work independently, but also enjoy working in a collaborative team environment.

* Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree

* Minimum of 5 years in integrated water resources planning, water resources engineering, or related field

* PE

* Experience with scripting (like VBA or Jython/Python) and GIS, experience with HEC software (such as HEC-SSP, HEC-HMS, HEC-ResSim, and both HEC-RAS 1D and 2D), FEMA floodplain regulations, linear programming and optimization

* Excellent oral and written communication skills

* Leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment

* Experience working directly with client leadership

* Experience with public speaking

* May require the ability to travel

* An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

* MS degree preferred

* Professional Engineer registration in Washington, or ability to obtain within 6 months

* Certified Floodplain Manger registration

* Strong H&H modeling skills

* Experience with water infrastructure planning studies, extreme hydrology, and/or consequence analysis

* Experience with reservoir and system modeling

* Experience with risk-based planning and risk informed decision making

* Familiarity with integration of resiliency into the planning process

Typical starting pay range for this position is $67,914.00 - $122,199.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
