Job Detail

The Senior Benefits Analyst administers benefit plans for the seagoing employees across HA Group, including medical, vision, dental, retirement/pension plans, insurance and disability. Acts as main contact for shipboard employee questions and problem-solving. Coordinates annual enrollment process. Works with outside vendors to ensure successful client account relationships. Coordinates retirement and pension plan administration, including employee payments. Works closely with Shoreside benefits to collaborate on plans overseen by the Shoreside team.

Responsibilities:

  • Administers the Company's benefit plans for Shipboard employees, coordinating closely with Shoreside benefits for shared plans as needed. Administers plans in accordance with plan documents, internal policies and established SOX guidelines. Maintains confidentiality of employee data at all times, including compliance with Federal or State regulations.

  • Acts as main contact with seagoing employees for benefits questions and problem solving. Consults and advises employees and management on shipboard policies and procedures while delivering excellent customer service and timely follow-up with employees.

  • Oversees annual open enrollment for fleet staff, including communication materials, pre-open enrollment data cleanup and post-enrollment employee outreach. Trains shipboard HR Managers on open enrollment process and details. Monitors enrollment and provides updates. Oversees enrollment outside of the annual open enrollment period as needed.

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement, improved workflow and reporting enhancements, making recommendations to HR leadership and coordinating implementation of ideas.

  • Prepares spreadsheets and conducts calculations in order to processes employee related payments or collections, such as retirement payouts and benefit deductions.

  • Coordinates annual compliance filings and evaluation work.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Business and/or equivalent work experience required. Professional HR Certification (eg, SHRM, World at Work, HRCI) preferred.
  • 5 years of experience required in the areas of HR benefits administration, including medical insurance and retirement plan administration.
  • Professional communication skills required. Ability to effectively present information, both written and verbal, in a clear manner.
  • Proven skills in customer service required, including the ability to keep track of multiple customer expectations and promised deliverables.
  • Strong project coordination skills required, including the ability to keep track of multiple deadlines, effectively meet deliverables, and keep both customers and peers apprised of project status.
  • Ability to be detail oriented while working independently on multiple projects required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint required. Experience in HR databases and a solid understanding of HR systems required.
